Why do many photos say "©pontiac.homepage.com" in the corner?

The PontiacServer was hosted by homepage.com before we moved into our own domain. Eventually, the photos will be corrected, but that will be a long, laborious project.

May I place an ad to sell my Pontiac here?

The site is not currently soliciting ads. However, if you have a very special Pontiac for sale, drop me a note (see email address above).

Can you help me find a part, manual, etc.?

I've never restored a car (I prefer mine "finished"), but here's what I know -- these are not endorsements! Try the Parts links on the Links page. Search eBay for the item(s) you need. Try the classified ad sites listed on the "Pontiacs For Sale" page under the heading "Can I sell parts here?" Join the Pontiac-Oakland Club International. Subscribe to the Poncho Mailing List. Look in Hemmings Motor News. Many newspapers put their classified ads on the Web. Find a swap meet in your area. A company called Vintage Parts 411 sells parts-locating guidebooks (Full Size Pontiac Restoration Resources, GTO Lemans and Tempest Restoration Resources, and Firebird and Trans Am Restoration Resources).

That's all I know about finding parts.

Can you help me find a car?

Join the Pontiac-Oakland Club International. The Performance Years Pontiac site has classified ads. Search eBay. Try the other classified ad sites listed on the "Pontiacs For Sale" page under the heading "Can I sell parts here?" Subscribe to the Poncho Mailing List. Subscribe to the monthly Goatfinder newsletter. Look in Hemmings Motor News. Many newspapers put their classified ads on the Web. Many car shows include "car corrals" (cars for sale). Post a "wanted" ad here in the Pontiacs For Sale section ("wanted" ads do not require your location).

Can you help me with performance or restoration questions?

I'm certainly no expert in these areas, but a good number of them are ready to answer your questions when you join the Pontiac-Oakland Club International and/or subscribe to the Poncho Mailing List. Many of the books listed below can help, too.

How much is a (insert car here) worth?

I would check at least these two sources:
1. The online collector car price guide provided by Collector Car and Truck Market (CCTM) magazine. Be sure to review the Condition Guide and the How-to-Use Instructions before calculating a price! CCTM is also available at larger bookstores and newsstands, as is a similar publication,...
2. Old Cars Price Guide.
     Both of these bimonthly magazines price cars according to make, year, model, equipment, and condition. You must read the condition guides at the front of each, as the two magazines use different scales.
     Look over the competition at Classifieds2000, Trader Online, and Hemmings Motor News. Hemmings is an inch-thick magazine considered by many to be the hobby's bible. All of these can be good places to buy and sell cars and parts.

Is that gorgeous (insert car here) on your site for sale?

As the saying goes, "everything's for sale, if the price is right." However, all the cars on this site known to be for sale are listed in the "Pontiacs For Sale" section.

Could you put my Pontiac in the Photo Album?

I hope so, but the image must be clear, and the car pre-1982 and very close to factory correct. Many of the photos on the site came directly from proud owners like you. For best results, please scan the photograph(s) at 200 to 300 dots per inch and save the image in JPEG format (high quality, low compression). Each image file should be under 500 Kb. If need be, I'll do the scanning and return your photos.

Can you help me find some information about my Pontiac?

Sure. These are the books I use and recommend. Your local library and/or bookstore may have them:
• Pontiac: The Complete History by Thomas E. Bonsall (year-by-year narratives and black-and-white photos, production data, base prices, engine availability, show cars; Canada, Australia and Export Countries facts & photos)
• Standard Catalog of Pontiac 1926-1995 by John Gunnell and Ron Kowalke (extensive production data, base & option prices and availability, b+w photos)
• Glory Days: When Horsepower and Passion Ruled Detroit by Jim Wangers with Paul Zazarine (not a reference book, but a very entertaining retrospective written by the "godfather" of the GTO)

I don't have any of these titles, but they're listed at and may be helpful:

Actually, no one has ever asked this question. But, in case you wondered, it began in late 1996 as just a couple paragraphs about the '76 Bonneville on my America Online "My Hobbies" page.
